Help shape our work

You have made the right decision to look into providing a heart defibrillator for your community or organisation. We appreciate this may seem like a big investment, but you really can't put a price on a life.

We ensure that communities obtain the correct defibrillator equipment and also ensure storage cabinets meet the correct requirements, conforming to health and safety and electrical safety requirements.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A FIREMAN TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A MEDIC TO USE A DEFIBRILLATOR.

London Hearts Defibrillator Guide

Location

There are a number of factors to consider, including potential footfall and how easy it will be to access to equipment. Any external cabinet will require a power point; this keeps the defibrillator at optimum temperature.

Cabinet

Whether you need a locked or unlocked cabinet or a simple wall bracket, we're on hand to recommend the best option for you.

Device

We supply the Mindray C1A, an easy to use defibrillator, ideal for most environments including the home, office and community.

Cost

London Hearts can provide a grant of £300 towards the cost of each defibrillator package. As an estimate, a defibrillator and cabinet package will cost between £795-£1225 depending on the equipment chosen.

Electrician

London Hearts unfortunately isn't able to offer installation, however it can be very cost-effective to ask a local electrician to fit the equipment.

Timescale

Whilst we can't determine exactly how long the fundraising process will be for you, once your order is confirmed, we aim to deliver the equipment to you within a matter of days.

London Hearts provides a FREE online defibrillator awareness training session with every heart defibrillator we supply. We understand that it may seem daunting to have to use a defibrillator but our aim is to reassure you that anyone can step in and potentially save a life.

Caring for your defib

One of the most common faults with defibrillators are expired pads. They will display a date on them so that you know when they will need to be replaced. Electrode pads are single use only and have 3 years of life before they expire.

Ensure your defibrillator doesn't run out of battery at the crucial moment you need it. The Mindray C1A holds a lithium battery with a 5 year shelf life. It’s essential to make sure your device is able to perform its' daily self-checks to remain in a fully working condition.

The Mindray C1A signals a flashing light and prompts an audible alert if there is a problem, for example, pads not correctly connected, or low battery. We suggest you inspect the defibrillator regularly to ensure the pads are in date, and the battery hasn’t expired.
