The total amount reflects the charity's actual cost of delivering a complete community defibrillator package, including:

• A secure, publicly accessible cabinet
• Professional installation and commissioning
• Initial electrode pads and battery
• Replacement pads as they expire or are used
• Replacement batteries throughout the unit's service life

Why Ongoing Funding Matters

Installing a defibrillator is only the beginning. To remain effective, every unit requires regular maintenance and periodic replacement of essential consumable components.

Electrode pads have expiry dates and must be replaced even if they are never used. Batteries also require replacement during the lifespan of the device. If a defibrillator is used in an emergency, replacement pads must be supplied immediately so the unit can return to service without delay.
