Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about applying for a defibrillator, fundraising, and keeping your device ready.

General

London Hearts is a charity dedicated to making defibrillators accessible across the UK. We have already helped supply over 26,000 defibrillators to schools, sports clubs, workplaces and community groups, helping communities be ready to save a life.
When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every minute without defibrillation reduces their chance of survival by around 10 percent. A defibrillator on hand, used before the ambulance arrives, can be the single biggest factor in someone surviving.
You can email us at info@londonhearts.org or call 020 7043 2493. If you would prefer we call you, use the Book a Callback option and choose a morning or afternoon that suits you.

Applying

Complete our short application form with a few details about you and your organisation. One of the team will then be in touch within the next working day to talk through your needs and recommend the right equipment.
Just your name, organisation name, address, telephone number, email, and the type of equipment you are interested in. The address field completes automatically once you enter your postcode.
We create your application and call you to discuss the details. We then prepare a quotation for you to review and accept online. Once accepted, we invoice you, and on payment we prepare and dispatch your equipment, staying in touch through to setup and aftercare.
It varies depending on your requirements and, if you are fundraising, how quickly you reach your target. We aim to make every stage as quick and clear as possible, and you can always ask us where things are up to.

Fundraising

Absolutely, and many of the communities we work with do exactly that. Fundraising is a great way to cover the cost while raising awareness locally. We can support you through the process.
Let us know when you apply, or reply to any of our emails, and we will set you up with a JustGiving page linked to your goal. We will then check in along the way to help you reach your target.
That depends on the equipment you choose. We will provide a clear quotation so you know exactly what your target is before you begin fundraising.
Get in touch and we will talk through the options. We would rather help you find a way forward than see a community go without a defibrillator.

Equipment

We supply internal, portable, and externally mounted publicly accessible defibrillators, as well as bleed control kits. During your call we will help you choose the right option for your site.

Modern defibrillators are designed to be used by anyone. They give clear spoken instructions and will not deliver a shock unless one is needed. We are happy to point you towards training resources for extra confidence.
Yes, please register it on The Circuit, the national defibrillator network, so ambulance services know it is there and can direct people to it in an emergency. We will remind you once yours is delivered.
