Defibrillation is the only method to treat someone in cardiac arrest. Every minute that a person in Sudden Cardiac Arrest does not receive defibrillation, their chances of survival drop by 7-10%. If a Defibrillator is applied to a patient within the first 3-5 minutes the chances of survival increases from 6% to over 70%.
The AED device that you will receive is fully automated and provides simple voice prompts on how to use it in the event of cardiac arrest.
There are no official AED training requirements, however we will supply a professionally recorded online awareness training session with an FAQ section. This will be provided when your AED is dispatched.
This training session can be saved for future reference and refresher sessions, to support individuals and help improve their confidence in using the device.
The AED is powered by a long life battery. Depending on your requirements the defibrillator can be supplied with either a C series carry case, Internal AED Wall Bracket or Internal alarmed cabinet. No power supply is required.
The funding for the scheme is based on a first come, first served basis. Funding will be only be confirmed once applicant’s part funding has been received.
The AED runs daily self diagnostic tests itself and does not require any annual servicing. We simply recommend a visual check of the unit on a regular basis. The device consumables need to be replaced within manufacturer guidelines pads (3 years or if used) and battery (5 years). Funding for replacement consumables is not provided.
Registration of an internal defibrillator with the ambulance service is optional. If you choose to register this can be done via the UK’s National Defibrillator Database at: The Circuit
